If you're just starting with Photoshop, Scott's books are a great way to learn. When upgrading from prior PSE releases, I've used Scott's books as not just a way to learn new features, but as a complete refresher course on everything Photoshop can do. That said, the one improvement I can suggest is a summary or index of new features. I especially like the way Scott not just explains each feature, but tells the reader how HE uses it or doesn't use it, but rather uses some other feature or technique instead.

I'm an advanced amateur and have used Photoshop from very early days. I've learned a lot from this book.
